Artist's Statement
A letter for you

I know an artist statement is supposed to sound as if someone is speaking of you, but I prefer to tell you myself.
Self-taught at the tender age of 50 something. That was a way of helping me to stop drinking, as I was quite fond of red wine. It became a life changer.
Art is my therapy. I have a monkey mind, always thinking, seldom quiet. As soon as I pick up the pencil any anxious thoughts vanish, all becomes blissfully calm, and the process begins.
I love this saying, ‘’When you are following your energy and doing what you want to do, the distinction between work and play dissolves”
Most of my drawings are done from photographs and my more recent and future work will be from my own photographs. Photorealism, I suppose you could call it.
I love reflections, chrome, black and white, and water feature. I use them in a lot of my work.
All of it is done in Faber-Castell graphite pencil on Fabriano 300gsm Italian acid-free paper.
Each drawing takes around 40 hours to complete. Yes, I don’t rush, I take my time watching whatever I am drawing come alive. I am a bit obsessive with attention to scale and detail.
What you see here on this web page is a selection of some of my drawings that I have decided to make into Fine Art Giclée prints, so good that you can not tell the difference between the print and the original.
All of the prints are available for sale. Their size is roughly A3.
Perhaps you have a photo of a special person, a place, a classic car or motorcycle.
If so, I would love to draw you something unique, totally original. It will last a lifetime.
Thanks for looking at my work, I hope you enjoyed the web page.
Kindest Regards,
Ken
